Listen to Music Again

I got my new iPod!!!!!!! How I survived over a MONTH without a constant influx of music--the world may never know. But, I now have my new baby (to replace my old baby, who kicked the bucket. poor little thing, the hard drive crashed.) 160 GB and silver, just like before, but more skinny and sleek. (does it make me shallow to point out that fact?) Awesome.

Yes, We're Going to a Party

Today is my MOST FAVORITE person in the WORLD's birthday! Oh yeah, and it's Sir Paul's birthday too...

Today Paul McCartney turns 69. But, more importantly, it's my Mom's Birthday! I think it's so nice that Paul wrote this song for my Mom so many years ago. (They say it's your birthday. Well, it's my birthday too, yeah!) The song was released just over a year after Mom was born. Coincidence? I think not. She's so lucky. A Beatle wrote a song just for her, and all she had to do was be born on the right day.

Happy Birthday Mommy.

It Feels Good To Be Free!

Dear Harold,

I think we should take some time. Things just aren't really working out. I feel trapped by you and, frankly, you breed stress. Thanks for understanding. Maybe we'll talk again at the end of August. For now, I will be spending the next two and a half months outside.

Love, Emily

Death of a Sole

On Monday I tripped at work and the entire bottom of my shoe was almost removed, only hanging by a few threads at the toe of the boot.

I lost my "soul" as one guy in the library so ...cleverly...put it later that day (I couldn't go home to change--no time). Well, I am losing my soul. Here's why:

Today is the first day of Paul McCartney's "On the Run" tour. Opening night is at Yankee Stadium. He's also visiting Detroit, Montreal, Chicago, and Cincinnati. I am on the wrong side of the Continental Divide. Music is half of my life. Actually, strike that. It's two thirds of my life.

And yet, I have never been to a concert. The Rolling Stones were in Salt Lake. I missed it. Poison. Missed it. Cheap Trick. Missed it. Billy Joel and Elton John. Missed it. Paul McCartney. Missed it. Bon Jovi. Missed it. OVER and OVER and OVER. And those are just the older bands. Don't get me started on more recent music acts (Owl City, Muse, Joshua Radin, Yellowcard....).

If finals is making you as depressed as it's making me, and you're stuck in the western U. S. like me, than just stare at this. If you have any music in your soul, you'll start crying.

Olfactory Cents

Today I got a bottle of perfume that I paid for in February. Needless to say, I was pretty stoked that it finally got here. It has been five months. But now I have to wonder, was a little bottle of smelly stuff worth the wait?
