Deux Ans

This movie may be my life. Oh my gosh.
(minus the chastity issues obviously)

Depuis quelques jours je vis dans le silence
Des quatres murs de mon amour
Depuis ton départ l'ombre de ton absence
Me poursuit chaque nuit et me fuit chaque jour

Non. Je pense que vous pouvez aller.

The ending of this movie was perfect. Bittersweet chocolate tastes the best.

However, I'm not opposed to a cheesy happy ending to a movie either.

Quelle Chance.

I refuse to be less cryptic than that. But just know that this post has been highly cathartic.

Mr. Postman

In the grand scheme of things I did not have a lot going on this summer.

Yet

I wait until the first day of school to retake the blogging world by storm. Logical thinking right there.

I am a HUGE nerd and therefore LOVE school so I had to share that fact with the entire internet (which you've probably realized if you're reading this)

But, the main event today is this:

One of my books came from Surrey. Par avion. Homesick. (in a happy way?)

Anglophile Hiatus

"It's the 4th of July!"

As Danny in the Great Escape so brilliantly put it.

Even in a German prison camp, you can't break American Spirit. I love this country so much, and no matter how much I miss London, I am always Proud to be an American.

(and I can appreciate the ingenuity of American Moonshine from potatoes in Germany, even if I don't drink)

"In the three years, seven months, and two weeks that I've been in the bag, that's the most extraordinary stuff I've ever tasted."

"I'll tell you what it isn't. It isn't Napoleon Brandy."

"How are you managing over there without us? Getting along alright, are you?"
"We seem to be getting along alright, shur....sir."
"Yes, well, it's good stuff, Hilts."

"Up the Rebels!"
"Down the British!"

Listen to Music Again

I got my new iPod!!!!!!! How I survived over a MONTH without a constant influx of music--the world may never know. But, I now have my new baby (to replace my old baby, who kicked the bucket. poor little thing, the hard drive crashed.) 160 GB and silver, just like before, but more skinny and sleek. (does it make me shallow to point out that fact?) Awesome.

Yes, We're Going to a Party

Today is my MOST FAVORITE person in the WORLD's birthday! Oh yeah, and it's Sir Paul's birthday too...

Today Paul McCartney turns 69. But, more importantly, it's my Mom's Birthday! I think it's so nice that Paul wrote this song for my Mom so many years ago. (They say it's your birthday. Well, it's my birthday too, yeah!) The song was released just over a year after Mom was born. Coincidence? I think not. She's so lucky. A Beatle wrote a song just for her, and all she had to do was be born on the right day.

Happy Birthday Mommy.

It Feels Good To Be Free!

Dear Harold,

I think we should take some time. Things just aren't really working out. I feel trapped by you and, frankly, you breed stress. Thanks for understanding. Maybe we'll talk again at the end of August. For now, I will be spending the next two and a half months outside.

Love, Emily
